Exterior Doors, Interior Doors and even French Doors in…
Whether you are home hunting and looking for the perfect place or have been in your home for a good, long while, you want to make sure you check the interior doors. It’s important to keep track to make sure they aren’t worn, the hinges are still well oiled and working right, and that the alignment with the frame is still well intact. A faulty door can mean a lot of things, from a draft coming in to less privacy because the lock doesn’t line up right anymore. You want to be on top of these sort of home issues and be checking for them often.
Every couple of months, check the door hinges. Make sure they are secure and aren’t squeaking. Sometimes just a bit of oil can fix things up and a tightening of a screw. But if a hinge is damaged, you’ll have to replace it.
Make sure that any cracks are taken care of immediately. It can happen with wood interior doors especially and if you catch them when they are small it can mean the difference between a small issue to having to replace the entire door. Check for these sort of things often and especially when looking at a new place so you can know if you want to put in the time and effort to fix them.
