Exterior Doors, Interior Doors and even French Doors in…
When it comes to our pets, they are a big part of our family. So we want to set them up with a great way to get in and out of the house, especially if you have an outdoor cat or a dog that just likes to get out into the backyard. Installing pet doors is really simple, especially with wood doors.
When you buy your pet door, it most likely will come with a template. You can cut out the template and place it against the wood door, at least 3 inches above the bottom of the door. Then you’ll want to trace around the template with a pencil. If your pet door is going to require screws, then mark the placement of the nails as well. Make four X marks on the inside corners of the outline for drilling. You can use a jigsaw to cut the opening.
You’ll insert the outer frame without the flap first and make sure it’s flush with the interior door surface. Then you can attach the inner frame with the flap with screws, making sure not to overtighten them. It may be a good idea to caulk the the outside frame so there aren’t any drafts.
Now your pet can come and go easily!
