Exterior Doors, Interior Doors and even French Doors in…
S
ometimes, whether from wear and tear or outside elements, doors get warped. This will often happen to an old solid wood door. You can fix some warping, if it isn’t too extreme. Even if your solid wood doors are warped beyond repair, there are still ways to deal with them and make them work properly.
If the warping is slight, you can attempt to straighten the door by laying it across a pair of sawhorses and putting a sheet of cardboard across the top. Then place 2 or 3 cinder blocks on top of the cardboard. It’s a slow process, but after a couple of weeks your door should be a bit more straight than it used to be.
If your door is warped beyond repair, you can still adjust the door stop to fit the warp. The door stop is the vertical strip of wood that runs down the center of your door casing, stopping the door from swinging too far. You can pry up the door stop with a pry bar and then re-nail it to fit the warped shape of the door.
Warped doors happen, but there are ways to take care of them! Put in the proper care and you can get your doors functioning the way they should again!
